of the Meeting of July 24, 2013
The meeting was called to order by
Trustee Leonard Kelley at 6 PM. The flag salute and reading of PresidentŐs
message followed. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as posted.

GUESTS
Representative
John McCoy, 38th District,
gave an update on the current situation with farm workers in Skagit County at
Sakuma Brothers farms. They are currently on strike for better pay and working
conditions. Housing and help for the children are also at issue, along with the
use of H2A visas for guest workers. He noted that he and Rep. Sells were
monitoring the situation. He also noted that he will be working on the
misclassification of employee issues for the next session.
Julien Loh, District
Director for Congresswoman Suzan Del Bene, spoke on the issues currently before
Congress, including immigration reform. The District office is in the Canyon
Creek area of Bothell.

BUSINESS
Nominations were reopened for Trustee 1
and 6 positions .It was announced that Bob James, NALC 751, had been nominated
at the May meeting for Trustee 6 but had subsequently declined the nomination.
Nominations were closed. It was M/S/C to
cast a unanimous ballot for Trustee Positions 1 and 6. Doug Scott, LIUNA 292
was elected to the Trustee 1 Position and Jacklyn
Rae, IBEW 77 was elected to the Trustee 6 Position.
REPORTS
OF UNIONS
Organizing Reports—None
Contract Negotiations--IUPAT DC 5, Greg Flatmo reported on a three week strike at the Kenworth Truck plant in Portland. They now have a 3 year
contract with a $1.50 package that has maintenance of benefits, and the company
is paying the unfunded liability on their 63 painters and 245 sheet metal
workers pensions. Glaziers completed negotiations with a $3.50 package over a
three year agreement with 800 workers affected. Drywall finishers are in
negotiations with the contract being extended already by a month with 450
workers affected.
IAM 130, Ron Harrell reported on a strike at Belshaw
by IAM Local 160. Delegates were encouraged to go to IAM160.org
and sign a letter of
support.
IBEW 77, Jackie Rae reported that after negotiations were finished the
contract proposal was rejected by the membership.
IBEW 89, Teresa Johnson reported on the negotiations for the 33
employees they represent at Verizon. They are still in negotiations with
Frontier.

Ann Seabott, Wash Tech and United Way
Labor Committee, updated delegates on the September
14th Day of Caring, and the booth at the Solidarity Day at the
AquaSox Event. Leonard Kelley, IBT 38 reported on his candidacy for May of
Stanwood. He will be needing parade help on August 3rd. Brad
Waddell, IBT 117, reported on his
candidacy for the Monroe City Council and thanked the Labor Council for the
endorsement. Sgt. Michael Boe, IBT 117 reported on
his candidacy for the Lake Stevens City Council and thanked the Labor Council
for its endorsement. Jim Smith, LIUNA 292, reminded delegates about the Radio
Labor Journal on KSER 90.7. Eric Wiseman, AFSCME 1020, reminded candidates of
the availability tickets for Solidarity Night with the AquaSox on August 1.
