The meeting was called to order at 6:03
PM by President Redrup. The flag salute and reading of meeting purpose
followed. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as posted on line.

TREASURER/STAFF REPORT
Sec. Treas. Sells reported on the
afternoon meeting at Everett CC on the proposals for WSU North Puget Sound and
an event for Rep. Larry Seaquist, Chair of the House
Higher Education Committee.
Leonard Kelley, IBT 38, Education Chair,
updated the Council on the problems with the Labor Center in Seattle. None of
the employees are union and they canÕt get a contract for those who are
employed. However, IAM 79 and Lisa Pau are able to help build a Union 101
education program for us. He encouraged delegates to follow through with
Working America sign ups and be involved in the phone banks during the election
campaign. A walk is scheduled this Saturday in the 44th District.

Contract
Negotiations—IBEW
89, Teresa Johnson, reported on the August 20th contract binding
arbitration with Frontier. They had been in negotiations over a year and half.
She commented that the local is in negotiations with Century Link and proposals
by both sides have been presented. AFSCME 113, Jim Imhof,
reported that they had a tentative agreement with the City of Everett. The
process went through mediation. ATU 883, Rick Swartz reported that the local
had been working for three years without a contract with City of Everett
transit. They finally went to arbitration with 9 items. Five were left as is.
They lost one item. There were wins in others. They received retroactive wage
increases of 2% for 2012, 2.6% for 2013 and 2.4% for 2014.

Jim Smith, LIUNA 292, encouraged people
to show up for the phone banks. Jason Redrup, IAM 751A reported that in
October, the Council would be working with Toys for Tots. Last year, 40,000
county residents were served by Toys for Tots. The old VFW Hall is going to be
a staging area for the program this year. Boxes are available for union halls.
Lynn Burow, SPEEA, reported that the local Coalition
of Labor Union Women had to cancel their last meeting due to illness. The next
meeting is scheduled for October 5th at 1205 Craftsman Way, #101 in
Mukilteo.
