The Snohomish & Island County Labor Council includes more than sixty affiliates representing approximately 42,000 union families in those two counties. The Council is governed by more than 250 delegates appointed to represent their unions. Those delegates are eligible to be elected to the ten-member Executive Board that oversees the Council's affairs and its fiduciary responsibilities.
We meet once a month as delegates to conduct labor-related business
We advance labor initiatives and counter the forces that attack the union movement
We endorse political candidates who support the goals of organized labor
We develop alliances among elected and community leaders in Snohomish and Island Counties
We participate in community outreach activities sponsored by the Labor Council
We recruit high school students for apprenticeships though our Trade Up events
We provide a forum for delegates to support each another and their unions
We give delegates a voice at the monthly meetings to share success in bargaining, gain support for job actions and keep their union siblings informed on labor issues
We provide affiliate members with discount tickets for Union Solidarity Night events with Silvertips and the AquaSox
We engage union members to nominate peers for the annual Mike Sells Labor Champion Award, the Affiliate Labor Champion Award, and the Michael Boe Delegate Labor Champion Award
We encourage volunteer opportunities to support our local communities
We raise the profile of our unions through media and social media coverage of activities sponsored by the Labor Council
Our affiliated unions and their delegates are the foundation and the heart of the Snohomish & Island County Labor Council. Together, we share the same voice in advocating for working families and their needs in our region.
